About Dr. Bauer
Dr. Bauer graduated from surgical residency from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed post graduate fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center affiliated hospital program. Dr. Bauer worked as Assistant Professor in Surgery at The University of Texas Medical Branch for 5 years, where she developed a solo academic colorectal practice as the first colorectal surgeon in Galveston, Texas. Among her accomplishments: development of the Pelvic Health and Continence Center, authorship of numerous book chapters and academic papers, presentations at national meetings in minimally invasive surgery and single incision surgery, and surgical quality outcome research and advancements.
Dr. Bauer specializes in all aspects of colon and rectal care, including endoscopic removal of benign and malignant disease, treatment of common benign anorectal diseases such as hemorrhoids and fissures, treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, advanced laparoscopic treatment of benign and malignant colon and rectal disease, enhanced recovery after surgery pathways, physiology testing and treatment of pelvic floor disorders such as fecal incontinence and constipation.
